Succulent planting commonly used soil introduction

Apr 16, 2018

The cultivation of succulents is inseparable from the soil, and the exchange director collects and collects information on soils commonly used by several succulents to benefit the succulents.

1. Garden soil

The most common cultivated soils, vegetable gardens, and green belts can all be counted. The advantage is easy to draw.

The disadvantage is that there may be eggs of insects such as cabbage caterpillars, and there are also many molds and fungi. When the surface is dry, the surface is easy to be hardened, and when the moisture is wet, the water permeability is poor and cannot be used alone. Generally, it is recommended that it be mixed with earthworm excrement and granular soil.

2. Vermiculite

It is a mica-like material formed by heating the silicate material at 800-1100°C. It is characterized by breathability, water retention, and strong water conductivity, which is conducive to root growth. The main role is to increase the soil (media) ventilation and water retention.

Disadvantages are fragile. With the prolonged use of time, the medium is easily densified and loses air permeability and water retention. Therefore, the coarse vermiculite has a longer use time than fine and has a good effect.

3. peat soil

Also known as black soil and peat, it is a special organic matter which is slowly decomposed under the conditions of low temperature, less rain and anoxia by the accumulation of plant remains of the ancient low temperature and wetland plants for tens of millions of years. Peat soil is rich in nutrients, and soft and breathable, which is very conducive to the early rooting of succulent plants. If you want to grow fast, you may add peat soil.

The disadvantage is that if the whole peat planting fleshy, long time soil compaction, fleshy root will be unable to breathe. So we should add a certain proportion of granular soil to prevent soil from hardening.

4. Rice Husk Charcoal

Rice hull ash, also known as fumigating carbon, is made from rice husks as a raw material and is rendered alkaline. It is usually used to adjust soil pH. Light weight, air permeability, good fertilizer retention, strong adsorption. Rich in potash, a small amount of calcium and magnesium, soft texture, easy to root, can protect more meat from snails and other mollusks harassment, but also very cheap.

However, the 12-volume plant prefers acid, and it is better not to use rice husk charcoal.

5. Volcanic Soil

It is a very rare substance that is formed by the accumulation of volcanic ash. This is also the most widely used soil medium in Japan and other countries. It can be called a high-permeability volcanic mud. It has a round shape, no harmful bacteria, and a slightly acidic pH. With a porous structure, excellent air permeability of the plant material, containing a certain amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, fragile.

It is known to all meat keepers that Chiayi soil is the most versatile soil. The most important feature is the expensive, most of the precious meat is cultivated using ChiZhong soil. Because it is yellowish when it is dry and reddish brown after absorbing water, it is easy to determine the soil moisture, and the surface of the surface can be judged by the color whether the water inside the pot is dry.

6. Ceramsite

It is a granular material with a certain degree of porosity formed after the clay is fired at a high temperature, and has good water retention and fertilizer retention properties. Features Breathable, internal pore structure, the bottom of the basin can replace the base stone, the gap is large, very suitable for drainage, the combination of ceramic particles and cinders can be fixed at the bottom of the ceramic particles, and better moisture absorption.

When the central and other soils are mixed, they are mainly used to retain water. The pot surface can be decorated and splash proof. Use the size of the particles as you like. Generally, the larger the bottom, the better. The hardness is very high and it can be reused after it is turned over.
